When we decided to allow marriage outside the authority of the church, we made it a legality issue not only a divine issue. When a Justice of the Peace could join two people, it became less of a holy union and more of a right provided to the people by the government.

Whether or not I believe that the government should have ability to define what marriage is under God is not an issue when it comes to its legality in our country.

Sadly, by abdicating our responsibilities the church allowed marriage to be defined as a right for all people. In God’s church, He should have the final say… In our pluralistic society, it’s an entirely different matter.
